Problems converting to DVD format

I have recently obtained a few torrent movie files and when I try to convert AVI files to a DVD format, the conversion only gets to about 10-15% and the program quits on me. I am currently using convertxtodvd and I have also tried out numerous other programs that are said to do the job for me. I looked all over the place and I cant seem to find a guide that will help me fix this. Somebody please chime in with a solution if there is one.

Have you tryed AVI2DVD? I have used this once, it changes the avi file to I think an ISO then you can use another program like dvd decryptor to put it on a dvd.
