Ok through this guide I will include pictures so you can get an idea of what to do, you will be able to click on any of the picture to enlarge them.

First things first you will need to download and install the game
https://www.silkroadonline.net/dataroom/download.asp

While that is download take this time to read some of this guide and to create an account on the website.
https://www.silkroadonline.net/member/member_join1.asp

You will use that account information as your game login information.

OK before you even start the game you need to start thinking of what type of character your going to create. This isnt ffxi and not everything in this game is so black and white.
There are alot of choices to be make with stat points and sp points as the levels go on but we will get to that in a moment.

First ask yourself what type of player are you, do you like magic based characters of weapon based characters?

Well depending on that question this will determin your weapon of choice.

Ok great the game is installed and updated so lets launch the game and after we click start we will be greeted by this screen

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro1.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro1.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

Use your login you created with the link above and select ROME as your server if you choose to be in the ffxiscripting guild. Please PM burners first as slots may be filled.

After all that jazz you will select "Create" and you will be greeted with the character creation screen.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro2.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro2.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

Basically you know the run down here, start getting your char the way you want him to look. OK now for Cloth this is important. Depending on which cloth type you pick will do more then just affect how your char looks, DONT WORRY IF YOU PICK THE WRONG ONE. You can change it any time in game but there are rules. Armor type can be mixed with Protector Type and visa versa but Garment Type can NOT be mixed with any other type of Cloth. Got it? Good.

So whats the difference between the 3? Well basically armor gives the best physical defense and least magicaly defense and slows your running speed down, protector is balanced and running speed is not slowed plus it conserves on MP a lil, Garment is obviously the oppisit of armor and has a greater effect on how much mp you reserve and you will run the fastest with garment.

Generally no matter how you plan to build your character you will use Armor or Protector for PvE (player vs. Everything) and you will use Protector or Garment for PvP (Player vs. Player)

If you forget any of this or are just not paying attention at this point you can refer to this lil box and it has the same info poorly translated from chinese in it.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro3.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro3.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

In case you want to see what each gear set looks like going through the levels or want to know when you get your next piece of gear you can use this link
https://www.silkroadonline.net/gameinfo/ ... weapon.asp

!! DONT CREATE YOUR CHARACTER YET !! We still got one more very important thing to cover.
Weapon, ok remember that discussion I put on hold earlier about sp and stat points? Well this is where it counts. You can change your weapon anytime in game but this is high NOT RECOMENDED because you will have wasted uber valuable SP Points. SP Points are so valuable you will see people shouting in game that they will pay you to just stand around and raise them as they kill themselves so they can level down, Why? for more SP Points.

OK So do you know what type of fighter you want to be? Remember earlier I told you to start thinking about it well now you need to know.

Basically it breaks down like this, lets say you want to be a INT fighter. INT is short for Intellegence and is responsible for how much damage you can do with magic. You will mostly be using mana and its similar to a "MAGE Class" in other MMO's.

Now the oppisit will be a STR fight. No thats not short for street fighter thats short for Strength fighter. STR is responsible for how much raw dmg you can do with just your weapon, brute force if you will and is comparable to a "WARRIOR Class" in other MMO's.

Last there is something called a "HYBRID". A Hybrid will be any mix of the two mentioned above and we will get into that later. My main is a hybrid and I will go more into detail on that later.

So whats the difference?

INT Build
High INT
Low STR
High MP
Low HP
High Mag. Def (Magical Defense)
Low Phy. Def (Physical Defence)

STR Build
High STR
Low INT
High HP
Low MP
High Phy. Def (Physical Defence)
Low Mag. Def (Magical Defense)

Balance Build
Medium STR
Medium INT
Medium HP
Medium MP
Medium Phy. Def (Physical Defence)
Medium Mag. Def (Magical Defense)

Now that we finally FINALLY have an understanding of that we can pick our weapon already, Sheesh. Heres how the weapons break down depending on what type of fighter you want to be.

The best choice for a Pure build of each is highlighted
INT Fighter
Bow
Sword
Spear

STR Fighter
Bow
Blade
Glavie

Hybrid Fighter
Bow
Sword
Blade

To see what the different weapons will look like as you go through the levels you can use this link
https://www.silkroadonline.net/gameinfo/it_cnweapon.asp
With that link I will know when I get my next Bow and what it will look like.

If you missed any of this info you can again refer to this little box in game and it will give you a little info about which weapon is good for what.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro3.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro3.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

Sweet were in game, Time to play.
First things first, your gonna need a way to sit and heal and stand when your done healing.
So press "A" on your keyboard for the action buttons.
Now Im going to let you know most things in this game are activated by right clicking, I know it takes some getting used to. To move things you left click which at times gets agrevating because you can easily drop an item off your hotbar by accident.

Ok so we have the action menu open and you can see actions for trading, fighting, auto looting and all that good stuff. Grab the first icon by left clicking on it. Then drag it into the first spot on your hotbar. This spot is reserved for use with your mouse wheel, by clicking in your mouse wheel you will activate the sit stand. Now you can heal.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro5.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro5.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

To get a feel for the game run straight SOUTH until you are out of the city and you will start fighting these hay looking monsters. No these dont agro unless they are Champions, a Champion is a larger mob of a certain type that is made to solo but is bigger in size and power compaired to the standard mob. There are also GIANTS which are HUGE compaired to other mobs and are made for groups.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro4.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro4.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

Once you gain your first level you will notice a little plus sign in the upper left corner of your screen, click this and we get into the ever complicated world of STAT POINTS. You get 3 of these per level and they are very important.
You will need to dedicate them either to STR or INT, now see where all this is comming into play?
Here are your choices in a nutshell, You can build a full STR build that will be incredibly strong with pure STR or a pure INT build which will have ungodly powerfull nukes and then theres the Balance build which doesnt have to be 50/50.
Balance build can be 1:1,2:1,3:1, your choice. For more info on builds and Stat points check out this link
https://www.online-games-hacks.com/silkr ... Guide.html
For more info on the Hybrid in particular check out this link
https://www.online-games-hacks.com/silkr ... Build.html

So after you have decided how you plan to build your char you can press the "C" key and dedicate your stat points. Once again here is how dedicating your stat points will effect your character.

STR
HP up
PHY ATK up
PHY DEF up

INT
MP up
MAG ATK up
MAG DEF up

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro6.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro6.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

Kill them hay monsters until you hit lvl 3 which will happen rather quickly then run back into the city. At level 3 on your right hand side of the screen you will notice you have a gold looking scroll. By clicking it you will see what quests have just become available to you but you will still need to talk to the proper NPC to initiate it.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro7.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro7.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

Here is your first quest NPC, well you actually get a starting quest other then this one but I just skip it.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro8.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro8.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

This NPC is at the east gate of the city, how did I know where he was? Well that little pop up we clicked on told us but I also cheat and use this link
https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/viewtopic.php?t=4592

That link is VERY USEFUL in that it not only shows which level you need to be to initiate a quest but also tells which npc will give it to you and most important what you get out of the deal, cause none of us wanna be doing crappy quests right.

Once you have clicked that link you may be asking yourself where you find the npc, well no worries you can use this link to show you where the npcs are located.
https://www.silkroadonline.net/gameinfo/ ... reaDiv=NPC
click where it says "NPC LOCATION MAP"

Now we just need to know where to find those pesky mobs that our quest npc wants us to kill, not a problem. Just use this link and you will know exacly where to go.
https://www.silkroadonline.net/gameinfo/mo_china.asp
Yes you can click the map to enlarge it

Once we have our quest you can press "Q" on your keyboard and it will open your quest book and you can see what quests you have initiated and how much further you have to go on them or what mobs to kill and who gave you the quest in the first place.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro9.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro9.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

Now that we have achieved lvl 3 and probably have a lil bit of gold and some items to get rid of lets use the NPC map linked above and go visit the Armor Trader, from there you should have enough cash to finish off your outfit so you will have a full gear set. You can then head over to Grocery trader Jinjin Jinjin and grab some earrings, rings, and a necklace if you have enough cash.

Hopefully by now you will have some cash for some pots (potions). Potions are the lifeblood of this game and you will start using and relying on them right away for fast lvling. If your in or plan on joining the ffxiscripting guild you can drop me a pm in game like so
$burners
And I will give you a little starting cash.

With that purchase 3 stacks (50 is in a stack) of Blue MP Pots and 3 stacks of Red HP Pots.

Now Lets open out inventory "I" on keyboard and put these to good use. This game has this crazy usefull feature called "Auto Potion" and were gonna set that up right now.

First change your hotbar to F4, see where it says F1, just click the down arrow and it will say F4. Now put the pots where shown in the picture by left clicking just like we did the sit/stand action.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro10.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro10.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

We put them in spots 8 and 9, later on you can use spot 0 for "Universal Pill". Universal Pills help cure status effects like poison.

Now we need to open the auto potion window by pressing "T" on our keyboard. Copy the settings from the image below. You will need to adjust the % sliders as you level and when you switch from small to medium potions.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro11.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro11.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

You will notice "Abnormal Status" is unchecked. You can Check this and select Belt F4 and Quick Slot 0 when you equip "Universal Pill" as mentioned above.

OK now before we start killing these weasels we are all set except for one more thing, in your upper left hand corner of your screen you will notice this.

[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro12.jpg" border="0">

You may have noticed those pink colored bubbles slowly filling up, well get by a bunch of mobs and go ahead and click the top bubble.
BAM you go into a killing frenzy kinda like this guy in the background of one of our last screenshots, kinda cought him in the action slaughtering some weasels.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro13.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro13.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

Kill them weasels until level 5. What you cant find the weasels? Well I already gave you the link above that shows right where they are but if you werent paying attention you go straight out the east gate until you run into them. Old weasels dont agro and Weasels do, FYI.

Once your down with the weasels go back to the starting NPC to get your reward.

OK SWEEEEET Level 5, Now the SP (Skill Point) Fun Begins. Basically we will now start using those skill points we have been aquiring. They are above your XP Bar.
So press "S" on your keyboard to open the sp menu.
First select the weapon tab and choose your weapon type.

Bicheon
Sword
Bow

Heuksal
Spear
Glavie

Pacheon
Bow

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro14.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro14.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

First select the proper weapon tab, I am using a spear so I will select Heuksal. Now level up the Mastery. The Mastery is when you first click on the tab and you see a box that says "LEVEL UP". Bring that up to 5. You can NOT go over your current level, we are level 5 so we level it up to 5.

Now Level up the first skill under your weapon tab, for me this would be "Wolf bite spear".

Now lets go to the Force Tab and select our force. DOH you dont know which force is yours yet do you? Well heres a good guide on that.
https://www.online-games-hacks.com/silkr ... Guide.html
Heres the quick and dirty version and this depends on your weapon choice.

Bow
Cold - Any Build (good for its snare/root like effects)
Lightning - INT Build
Fire - STR Build

Spear
Lightning

Glavie
Fire

Sword
Lightning

Blade
Fire

Again if you want more in depth details about the above choices please use this guide
https://www.online-games-hacks.com/silkr ... Guide.html

So we will now do the same as above, click FORCE tab then select our force, Bring the mastery up to our current level and then "buy" the first ability.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro15.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro15.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

Dont worry about left over skill points, just save them, you will need them later, more info about skill points can be found in this link.
https://www.online-games-hacks.com/silkr ... Guide.html

Now that we have those lets bring them down to our hotbar. Make sure your hotbar is on "F1" and drag them down just like we did the pots and our sit stand skill.

<A HREF="https://www.forum.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro16.jpg" target="_blank">[img]https://www.ffxiscripting.com/img/sro/sro16.jpg" height="200" width="250" border="0"></A>

You can now use the force to "Imbue" your weapon right before the first attack and use the weapon skill for added STR.
Start this by targeting a mob, dont attack just click once to target. Now activate the Force by left clicking it, now hurry and left click the weapon skill and BAM that should be one hell of hit compared to what you have been used to thus far.

Once you hit lvl 6 I think it is you can head over to Grocery trader Jinjin Jinjin and she will give you an easy quest for inventory expansion. It will be the only one for a while so go ahead and do it now. You have to gather like 20 Straw something from the starting hay monster type mobs.

Now thats about it for that, if you took the time to read the links I posted you should have an idea where your character is going on how to build him/her.

For my character I built a Hybrid Bowman, I started by going 1:1 from levels 1-45 and now I am going full STR from here on. this will give me a 2:1 STR Char at end level (80) but was still very easy to play in the lower levels because I used the 1:1 instead of starting with 2:1. The reason I went to level 45 instead of 40 which is half of 80 and would give me a perfect 2:1 ratio is because I use alot of +STR modifiers to give me extra str such as my bow which is +STR. I still want my Imbue to be strong so I didnt want to cheap out on my INT but I dont use any Nukes FYI.

I think that should about cover this quick start guide and if I go any further it probably wont be a quick start guide any more.

If your thinking about playing in the Burnersware Guild you can click my sig or this link

PART 2 ITEM MALL

Ok this is a quick rundown of how Joymax (the makers of silkroad) make their moola.

Press "F10" on your keyboard.
Here you will see things you can buy in game with silk.
Silk is a currency which you have to buy from joymax with REAL MONEY.
You buy silk with this link
https://www.silkroadonline.net/itemmall/silkcharge.asp

If you choose to be an archer you will need to buy silk sooner or later because the little 250arrow bundles dont cut it in the higher levels. You will need the 10k arrow bundles that you can buy with silk.

The single most important buy you will make (and the most expensive) will be the "GOLD TICKET" you will want the 4 week gold ticket and it is 130 silk so make sure you buy enough silk. This will give you 100% XP BONUS for 3hrs a day for 30 days.
I always keep one of these which between this and the arrows is like paying for a pay style mmo with 1 MAJOR difference. If I dont want to play for a week/month/year/ I dont have to worry about calling and cancelling my account so im not charged or paying for something im not playing or my account getting deleted.

Also if you dont play for a day and the Ticket is already activated that 3hrs will carry over to the next day, and if you dont play for your full 3hrs the remaining time will carry over to the next day. BUT only a total of 2 days / 6hrs can be acrued.

If you only bought the gold ticket every month then
$130 in silk would buy exactly 10 monts of gold tickets which would equal $13 / month which is pretty cheap now a days for an MMO.

I do the math like that cause the gold ticket is 130 in silk and you cant buy 130, you can buy 50 / 100 / 300 / 500 in silk. I just buy the 300 cause I have to buy arrows as well which sux balls but there only 8 silk a bundle and I use about a bundle for a full 3hrs of lvling depending on if I feel like carrying alot of extra arrows or just wanna take the easy way out with buying a bundle.
