This is a guide to help you achieve the Mark of a Hero on Tatooine

Starting Location: Tatooine Squill Cave, located at (81, -5
Faction Requirement: None

Overview:
The Hero of Tatooine quest is actually a series of quests from which you can earn five separate badges:
Mark of Altruism
Mark of Courage
Mark of Intellect
Mark of Honor
Hero of Tatooine
You can complete the Mark quests in any order. To receive the Hero of Tatooine Badge you must complete all four Mark quests successfully.
Walkthrough:
This quest starts in the Tatooine Squill Cave, located at (81, -5. Near the bottom of the Cave lives a Hermit. Both the HAM and the spawn rate of the inhabitants of the Cave were increased considerably during Publish 9. Buffs and decent armor are highly advisable. Those with low level skills will require group support to reach the Hermit, who can be found at (10 -218). Fight your way to the Hermit and engage him in conversation. He will tell you that we live in dark times now that the Empire rules the galaxy. When your responses to him require you to support the Empire or state your dissatisfaction with their methods, choose dissatisfaction. (If you defend the Empire he will refuse to talk further with you.)
The Hermit continues his conversation by declaring that the world needs more heroes and that to be a hero you must bear the Marks of Intellect, Honor, Courage, and Altruism. He has a quest for you before you can start the Mark quests however. He asks you to bring him a Squill skull.

The skull is found just around the corner from the Hermit (-140, -269). Take it back to him and he will give you hints on how to find the four Marks. (The skull, by the way, is no drop, no give).

Mark of Altruism

There is a farmer, according to the Hermit, who is in need of a hero. The farmer, who will bear the title Moisture Farmer, spawns in a broad area south of Mos Taike. Although he doesn't appear on the radar he will appear on the overhead map, so make sure it's enabled. The farmer has been found in the areas near these locations:

When you find the Moisture Farmer, he will tell you that his wife and daughter are being held for ransom by a group he calls Sennex. (Do not give him the money for the ransom. He will take it, and then despawn). Go to the location he tells you they are being held at (6522, -1350). To free the pair you must find some explosives, plant them to blow up the boulder that blocks the room they are in, and escort them to safety.

When you enter, take the first right and follow it until you find the explosives near some crates, surrounded by some beetles. Retrace your path, but instead of turning left in the fork which leads to the Cave entrance, continue on. You will come to a huge boulder, with a small boulder to its left. Double click the small boulder. It will open and you can place the explosives inside. They have a timer and it will blow up the boulders in a few seconds (no harm will come to you from the explosion). Talk to the mother and tell her you will lead her to safety.

At the Cave entrance, do not exit until you have talked with the mother again. If she makes it outside before you talk to her she will despawn before you can get the badge.

Notes:

The Sennex have a very rapid respawn rate and fairly high HAM. I took a fully buffed and armored Master Pistoleer in and had few problems. A TKA with buffs, but no armor, got killed.
The mother and daughter will stay behind you, which gives you time to kill as many Sennex as you need once you get to the Cave entrance, so that you can talk to the mother (you cannot engage in conversation if you are being attacked, thus the necessity to kill off the Sennex near the entrance).
If you are in a group, each person must have conversed with the Moisture Farmer, picked up explosives, and talked to the mother. This necessitates doing the quest several times, although you can all go into the cave at the same time.
Once you talk to the mother the second time, she will thank you. At this point you will receive the Mark of Altruism.
Mark of Courage

The Hermit says there is a beast terrorizing the world. Go to Mos Espa and search in the area around these coordinates:

You are looking for a Wild Bladeback Boar. When you find it, kill it and loot the corpse to receive the Mark of Courage. The Boar has close to 10K HAM, and was alone.

Note: The Boar will spawn four times in the same location so a four person group can all finish this quest off of the same spawn spot.

Mark of Intellect

There is a Bounty Hunter in need of help. He spawns inside the cities on Tatooine:

Mos Taike (3795 2388)
Wayfar (-5120, -6580)

The Bounty Hunter will be surrounded by a Smuggler Captain and five Smugglers. One of them is the Bounty Hunter's mark, but he doesn't know which one. Question each of the Smugglers, twice. The second time one of them, the mark, will tell you that he overheard two of the others talking earlier. "They are both liars. Don't trust either of them."

When you give the Bounty Hunter the marks name, you receive the Mark of Intellect.

Mark of Honor

The Hermit tells you that there has been trouble between some pirates and ranchers. Go to Mos Eisley and search the area for a Pirate Leader, who is accompanied by two Pirates. They have been found near:

Attack the Pirates. When the Pirate Leader has lost some of his HAM he will cease being an aggressor. Converse with him and he will tell you that his friends have been captured by a rancher. He asks if you will free them.

The ranch is found at (5000, -4700). Talk to the rancher's wife, inside the house. She explains that she's holding the pirates and would like you to watch them while she takes a break. She tells you, "Thank you so much! There's an intercom outside the room in which I've locked them up. They may try to coerce you into helping them. Just ignore them. I need to go relax for a minute."

Use the intercom to talk to the pirates. Their story is that she is no good, tricked them, and is starving them. They ask if you will distract her while they escape. Refuse to help them and the pirates will be taken away for questioning. After you watch them being taken off, you will receive the Mark of Honor.

Note: If you are interested in interior decorating, take some time to explore the ranch house before you leave. It's a beautiful house, and perhaps the most interesting home you will find anywhere in the galaxy.

Once you have completed all four Mark quests successfully, return to the Hermit. When you talk to him, he will award you the Hero of Tatooine.
