There is a program you'll need to download called EZMacros that automates keyboard commands and mouse clicks. This can be gotten at www.ezmacros.com
The current direct download link for the program is: ftp://ftp.americansys.com/amem5a.exe

What you'll be doing is recording yourself performing a set of actions and assigning that recorded playing to a key - I prefer using the plus sign for my macro key. You'll then have your character how he needs to be in game, and you'll get a weighted object to set on top of that designated key that activates the macro. This will play through the macro then replay it over and over until you take the weighted object off the key. It is easiest to record and use the macro if you run the game in windowed mode. This basically means that you don't want the full screen option on (Options->Display->Performance->FullScreen).

First, how to basically use EZMacros: First hit add macro, choose remember mouse and keyboard, choose press a hotkey to launch macro, choose what key you want to set off the macro when its done (I use the plus sign key), then you'll want the playback speed "recorded" box checked, and repeat set to once. Then you just hit record to do your macro. What you actually do after hitting record is explained below. When you begin recording you will have the EQ2 window up and running such that it can be seen behind the EZ Macros window just as you're hitting record.

(Before you start go into EQ2 and go Options->Controls->ViewOptions and the first option will be "Enable Combat Auto Face". It *MUST* be checked. It is checked by default, but just a reminder that it is checked)

The macro you will be creating will target enemies, kill them, then loot them and repeat. This can be done with any character. The specifics of combat will depend on YOUR character. This is how it will go. You hit record. You will first hit the number 5 on the number pad. This key levels the camera. You will then proceed to make your character spin in a circle while hitting tab (tab is the default key to select nearest target). The exact way you will do this is hit tab once, just tap it. Then hit number 4 on the number pad and hold it down for just a moment so your character rotates his view a 1/4 a spin or so then let off the key. No need to be exact. Hit tab again, then rotate some more with #4, then tab, do this just 4-5 times so your character spins in a complete circle. This causes him to spin in a complete circle to view everything around him and pretty much guarantee he picks a target to attack. Now you will hit the ~ key (just to the left of 1 on most keyboards). This is the default key for autoattack. You will then make your character run forward for just a few seconds. By default, forward is set to the w key and also the up arrow key. Your character will automatically face the targeted enemy and walk forward to it. When you pass it you will autoattack. You will then walk backwards (default key is s or down arrow) a few seconds. This is to guarantee your character is facing the enemy correctly. You may then hit any special attacks / abilities you want either by using your mouse and clicking the icons or using number keys to activate them. Assume an extra delay after you have killed the enemy- sometimes a battle may take longer than usual (or the other way around). Now, the enemy is dead. Its corpse will be in front of your feet, the view partially blocked by your legs- but that's ok as you can click through your legs. In order to loot the corpse you will right click once, tap the mouse key lightly so it's nowhere near being a hold-down (which would cause the camera to drag a little in the macro). Left click examine, the same light tap as before. Then left click somewhere away from the corpse with another light tap. The loot window will appear in the top left of your screen as usual if there is anything on the corpse. This is where it gets slightly tricky. First of all, corpses don't always have loot. This isn't a problem for the macro as it will be addressed, however it will mean you'll have to run through the CREATION of the macro a few to several times to get it right (because you cannot create the end of the macro without a loot window). Now that the loot window is up, you will want to take your finger, your actual finger, and pinpoint where the X (close) on the loot window is. Hold that spot. Now actually left click on the loot all button, then left click where the X -would be- to close it. This is in case a lore item drops. You cannot have more than one of the same lore item in your inventory. If you did not do this eventually a lore item double would drop and your loot window would never close which would disrupt the macro. If you want your character to rest some after the battle just stand there for a bit till you are happy with how much you've healed. Alright, now you are done. You will hit pause, and the ezmacro window will pop up. Look at the options you have. You'll want to set the repeat to 1 time. Make sure the Playback Speed box named "Recorded Speed" IS checked. Then hit next. You'll be asked for a description... you can type one in or leave it blank, then hit finish. Your macro will show on the list, select it and hit run, then immediately hit pause. This is just to 'prep' the macro because of a small bug I've found. You can now bring back up Everquest2 and hit the key you designated to the macro. (At the beginning I noted I usually use the + key).

ALL RIGHT. So there you go, those are the basics. Now the obvious- not everyone is a melee. This is not a problem. In fact it is advantageous, you don't necessarily need to chase your enemy after targeting them with the camera circling+tab. You will still want to hit autoattack, and just tap the forward key once so your character at least faces the enemy. Then just hit a nuke spell. The enemy will come to you. You may prefer to do this, or maybe not. Try both ways and see which works better for you. The more effort you put into your macro, the greater the results will be. Practice makes perfect.

Finally, and actually most importantly, you need to decide where to fight. This is *THE* most critical aspect of macroing. If you want to make coin while you're macroing away from keyboard, you'll want to macro in a spot with enemies that are well below your level and have no chance to kill you. This means they will not auto-aggro on you because of level difference, and even if random mess-ups occur where your character doesn't retaliate for a long time you'll still have no worries of the macro messing up. This is by far the most ideal usage of the macro. So find some easy enemies, I recommend a dungeon, a back room, so your character doesn't have much chance of running off anywhere accidentally, though really anywhere will work. Set up the macro, and your character will kill/loot all the live long day. Make oodles of coin without playing. I run a second computer macroing on a second account just for coin all day long. The other desire is to macro for xp. This is obviously more difficult than macroing for money. Knowledge of spawns and random possibilities are key in finding a spot to level while afk. The ideal is finding a set spawn of a single non-roaming enemy that you have can always kill, with no chance of random auto-aggro enemies roaming up to you. You want it so that your character doesn't even need to move, you just stay in one spot, target an enemy as soon as it spawns, kill it, rest, rinse, repeat. It is not easy to find spots to do this, but there really are plenty. Just keep your eyes open, because once you find them, it's an easy guaranteed 3+ levels that you don't have to grind yourself. If you have any further questions feel free to email me and I'll be glad to help.

When the 30 days of using EZMacros is up, you can simply uninstall/reinstall to continue using it. You can continue doing this forever; there's no need to pay to register it.

In very rare occasions EZMacros doesn't work for some people. Mouse clicks may not follow through though you see the cursor move. If this happens, first make sure the game window is the current active window (just click anything in the game if you don't understand that) then run the macro again. If it still does not work, you may just have some bad luck. However, you can simply download any other macro program and there will always be one that works. They're pretty much all the same and after learning how to use EZMacros you should have no problems with another. The directions to actually apply the macro in game will still be the same.
